Dear Friends and Neighbors:
For over nineteen years as a school board member, I have successfully advocated for fundamentals – quality phonics-based reading instruction, strong professional development, basic skills instruction, rigorous standards, clear accountability, prudent budget decisions, needed facilities improvements and quality new schools to meet the needs of our growing district. Three new high school science centers reflect growing demands for technology instruction. As the only grandparent on the Tustin School Board, I bring an important additional perspective to decisions.
As a parent, grandparent and a homeowner here in our community, my focus is having high quality neighborhood schools that are continually improving. It is high quality neighborhood schools that provide all children with an outstanding education, support our local economy and home values, and contribute in many ways to making this a great community in which to live!
The result is even more excellent schools contributing to strong neighborhoods. Students achieve steadily improving test scores and admission to respected colleges. More of our high school graduates than ever are meeting the course and grade requirements for entry to the University of California and/or the California State University system.
But not all go to four year university - with their TUSD education, they are just as prepared for high tech job training as for college. But having met the course requirements for four-year college, it is THEIR choice whether a technical school or university is the best choice for them. They can even choose one now and the other later. AND the universities tell us that our students are better prepared than ever when they get there!
If you have a question concerning Tustin Unified that you cannot get answered at your local school, please email me at LynnDavis@LynnDavis.ORG and I will respond as promptly as possible.
